This fellowship provides full financial support for the entire duration of the program, including:

Fellowship Structure

The fellowship is split into two phases:

University of Palermo Scholarship in Italy 2025-26

Phase One: Training in New York (3 Months)

From March or April to June 2026, fellows will receive intensive research and professional training at the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) at the United Nations Headquarters.

Phase Two: Academic Research (6 Months)

From July to December 2026, participants will conduct advanced academic research at one of the program’s 32 partner host institutions located across Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, and other regions.

Post-Fellowship Commitment

Fellows are expected to return to their home countries to apply their knowledge and contribute to national policy development and ocean governance.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: 25 to 40 years old

  • Education: At least a first-level university degree

  • Interest: A proven interest and involvement in topics related to ocean governance and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea
